It is important to note that the AR Ruler app functions exclusively on devices that are ARCore compatible. Verify device compatibility: https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/
The AR Ruler app employs augmented reality to measure real-world dimensions using the camera of your smartphone. Simply aim at a detected plane and start utilizing the augmented reality tape measure:
1) Line - facilitates linear measurements in cm, m, ft, yd, and offers options for mm and inch rulers.
2) Distance Meter - measures the distance from the device camera to a fixed point on the recognized 3D surface.
3) Angle - calculates corners on 3D planes.
4) Area and Perimeter measurements.
5) Volume – determines the size of 3D objects.
6) Path - computes the length of a selected path.
7) Height - measures height relative to the detected surface.
The Photo Ruler app enables users to measure the dimensions of any object by capturing its image or measuring directly on the screen. This app provides the convenience and precision of a standard mm ruler or tape measure.
This Ruler app is also available for iPhone:

Using the Ruler app:
To start with the Photo Ruler app:
First, ensure that the object you want to measure and a reference item of known length (Base Item) are included in the same photograph. The app settings provide a predefined list of Base Items, such as a debit/credit card or a quarter. Select the one that closely matches the size of the object you wish to measure.
Secondly, make sure that both the Base Item and the object are on the same plane and that the camera of the Ruler app is parallel to them. This alignment is crucial to prevent distortions due to camera perspective.
Align the Blue arrows with the Base item and the Green arrows with the object you intend to measure. The measurement for the object will be displayed on the Ruler app screen.
Standard mm ruler functionality:
Use your screen as a classic mm ruler. You can measure small objects by placing them directly on the device's screen while adjusting the line markers accordingly. If the scale of the mm ruler appears distorted, you can manually recalibrate it. The on-screen mm ruler can be adjusted using various Base Items, including debit/credit cards or coins. You can choose between Imperial (inches) and Metric (centimeters) measurements.
Precision of the mm ruler app:
Provided that the markers are correctly aligned, the measurements you obtain will be as accurate as those taken with a conventional mm ruler or tape measure.
